Tournament
Takapotku is a five-round McMahon go tournament held in Helsinki during the weekend of 7th and 8th February 2009. Takapotku is the largest annual tournament in northern Europe, reaching around a hundred participants each year. We aim to provide a pleasant tournament experience for players of all levels, from beginners to high dans.
The tournament is part of the Pandanet Go European Cup tournament series.
Results and photos
The tournament was a big success with 116 go players participating in the tournament. The tournament was won by Du Qing, 6 dan, with five wins and no losses.
Details of the Takapotku 2010 tournament will be announced in September 2009.

- Five-round McMahon tournament
- All games are even games, no handicap stones
- Japanese rules & EGF tournament rules
- The only tiebreaker is SOS
- Class A EGF tournament
- Main time 60 minutes
- Canadian overtime 15 stones in five minutes
- Komi 7 points (draws are possible)
